最后一只箱子

Neither of them took it.

只剩最后一只箱子了。

他们都心知肚明,这从来都不是箱子的事——它在玄关的壁橱里搁了三个礼拜,是个借口,是件待办的小事,是一根谁都不肯利落剪断的线。

她挑了个星期二来,因为星期二意味着他在家。他开门的样子,像是早就站在门后等着。

公寓比她记忆中空荡,也因此更响。每一个他们没有发出的声音,都填满了房间。

“在壁橱里,”他说。

“我知道在哪儿。”

她确实知道。她知道哪块地板会响,哪个开关会卡,床的哪一侧先凉下来。她熟悉这个地方,像熟悉一首已经决定不再播放的歌。

她没有朝壁橱走去。

“那就拿走吧,”他说。他也没有动。

两个人都没有去拿。
